Eudaemonia

Eudaemonia – Originated from the Greek word “eudaimon,” the word “eudaemonia” means the state of being lucky or happy. If you’re in a state of general well-being or feeling great joy, this is one way to express it.

Sometimes you receive a gift that just makes you feel good.  This was not actually a gift given to ME.. but I took possession of it from someone who did not want it.  I hung it in my workspace so my team could enjoy it.

It is a beautiful string art piece that was given to someone on their way out the door but ended up being received too late to pack out and too big to carry.  I waited the appropriate amount of time and then asked the floor if I could have her.  The floor said yes.

I love all things sun.. sunshine, sunbursts, sunflowers, sunglasses, sundaes….  I feel happy when i see them.

“Even
After
All this time
The Sun never says to the Earth,

“You owe me.”

Look
What happens
With a love like that,
It lights the whole sky.”
― Hafiz

I feel happy when I see this.  The photo I took does not do it justice.  I think of all the time spent on planning this out. Putting small nails in exactly the perfect place.  Finding the perfect color of string that will bring out the best of this design.  Looking at it and wondering if the receiver will appreciate the amount of time that you spent on it. If they would even know how much time it took.  Feeling happy that you were able to pull it off.  Would they be just as happy to know that someone else accepted it.. hung it.. loved it?  I think they would.  I hope so.

It is literally perfect in color, shape, design.  Absolute perfection.  I wanted to take it with me when I leave, but it seems to make my team so happy as well.  So it shall stay.  I hope who follows me appreciates it as much as I do.

“What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but scattered along life’s pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.”  ― Joseph Addison

“Happiness is not to be achieved at the command of emotional whims. Happiness is not the satisfaction of whatever irrational wishes you might blindly attempt to indulge. Happiness is a state of non-contradictory joy – a joy without penalty or guilt, a joy that does not clash with any of your values and does not work for your own destruction, not the joy of escaping from your mind, but of using your mind’s fullest power, not the joy of faking reality, but of achieving values that are real, not the joy of a drunkard, but of a producer. Happiness is possible only to a rational man, the man who desires nothing but rational goals, seeks nothing but rational values and finds his joy in nothing but rational actions.”   – Ayn Rand

“What did you call her?” she asks but I don’t think it’s her real question.
“Sunshine,” I say, and she smiles like she believes it’s perfect and she may be the only person other than me who would think so.
“What is she to you?” she whispers. The real question and I know the answer even if I don’t know how to say it.
Drew’s muffled voice rises up from the floor before I can respond.
“Family,” he says.
And he’s right.”
