Meaning: amazing, awesome; or, disgusting

Unbeknownst to me, this word started as surfer language in the 70’s but only spread to non-surfers in the mid-80s.  (Class of 85 here!). I hear those times and trends are coming back round… I don’t believe the new 80s will ever bee as cool as the 80s I grew up in.  The mystery, the random excitement, the innocence..

The mood of the 80s – Get what you can, can what you get, and sit on the can.
— Patricia Schroeder

Some of my favorite 80s movie quotes:

“We’re all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that’s all.” — The Breakfast Club

“This may sound Incredibly dumb, but I love you, and I’ll do anything to make you love me.” — Sixteen Candles

“We came, we saw, we kicked its ass.” — Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ghostbusters

“Be afraid. Be very AFRAID- The Fly

”I was in here yesterday and you wouldn’t wait on me. You work on commission right? Big mistake, big… Huge! I have to go shopping now.” — Pretty Woman

“Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” — Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

“Me? I’m scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw, I’m scared of what I did, of who I am, and most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.” — Dirty Dancing
