About Me

I am the product of a variety of influential people from a dozen different career paths I have chosen throughout my life. I have been fortunate enough to have worked under some amazing people that have focused their lives on living true to their passions, being able to make quick, wise decisions and stand by what they say and how they live. I have had many opportunities to change for the worse but thankfully the people around me have shaped and carved out who I am and have made a huge difference in my life

The things I am most passionate about are art, wine, food and travel. Travel more than any other thing.  I take extreme delight in laughter and spontaneous behavior.  I love random surprises in diverging thoughts and activities.  I have an ever-changing sense of humor and a problem getting people to understand my random thought patterns and speech discrepancies.

Despite all of this I want to share my life and adventures with the people I love the most.  Enjoy what you read and if you don’t, please stop reading.  One last thing to remember about me is this – I am Sam.  Sam I am.  I am what I am.

Peace out.

  1. Thanks for the follow over on my blog. It is so good to connect with other bloggers. I quickly cruised through a couple of your posts and need to come back for more.

  2. Sounds like an interesting life you have. Thanks for following my blog, it means so much to me to see that people all over the world read a little from me. I am not so good with words but I like to cheer people up and make them happy or think a little. Blogging is more fun than I thought, and I find out there in the bloggers world is amazing!

    • I feel the same way. I find I spend way too much time reading other blogs now but it’s so interesting. Your words are fine and make a point and that’s what this is about so keep it up.

  3. …And I DO like Sam-I-am… I like your blog read in my house and when I click it with my mouse, it’s fun to read outside the box… and I’m not thinking of anything clever about a fox… I have never tried green eggs and ham, but Thank you! Thank you! Sam-I-am!… for checking out Fitztopia! 🙂

    • I’ve based most of my life’s decisions on the good Doc and I occasionally burst into very white chick rap sometime (though I have received a standing ovation for it.. probably more to egg me on than to tell me I was good) so you know that I love your verse. I used to also have a friend who would greet me daily with .. “Why hello Sam.. sam i am.. sam that I am.” literally EVERY time. thanks for dropping by.. and thanks for liking.

  4. You have a wonderful blog. I’ve browsed over you previous post and I’m delighted to read such interesting post, light-hearted and fun at the same time. I will surely come back for more.

Thank you for following my blog.

  5. “Little girl in a big world.” I like that. I’m printing it out now and taping it to the top of my computer along with a long lost friend’s Facebook message: “When are you going to finish that new novel because I can’t wait to read it!?”.

I think those two things sum up the majority my days. Inspiration for almost anything.
    xx

    • I have actually been thinking of changing my blogs subtitle from Legendary wining and dining to Little girl in a big world.. it seems it would be a better fit. Thanks for stopping by.

      • The Muddy Kitchen? Or the titles for one of my books?

The Muddy Kitchen is pretty simple: everyone (including me) tracks in muddy boot/clog/slogger prints into my kitchen. I’m tracking mud in as we speak!

A vegetable garden out the door has its plethora of advantages – a clean kitchen floor is not one of them! xx

  6. Enjoyed reading your take on life and the very definitive, “i am”. … being spontaneous and the power of laughter … right on! I see that you’ve popped up as a follower on my blog, thank you! I shall be visiting yours regularly too. Do you have any observations on urban wildlife in your neck of the woods?

    • I’m in Caracas right now and it’s very urban.. haven’t seen anything in the city..not even a rat.. strange eh.. I’ll be hunting though all my photos now in search of something.. it’s the type of challenge I love.. thanks for stopping by.

  7. Thanks for all the “likes”and comments on my blog.I enjoy following yours.Love your list today.
Thanks for sharing. Think I should print it out and hand to all the teachers next week as we start another year.

    • Ah thanks! I like that you said “voice” I had to use that all the time in teaching and it’s a very high compliment that you recognized my own special voice.. Great idea for a theme.

  8. Thanks for stopping by my blog this evening and for the “likes”! I hope you found some posts you thought were quirky or beautiful enough to bring you back for more visits!

    • I did.. I love photo posts.. and especially photo posts that show a different perspective.. close, high, low, funny, sad.. just anything different. It’s how I’ve really found so many of my inspirations. thanks for posting some amazing photos.. I’ve loved so many blogs it’s getting harder and harder to keep track of them all.. I would love to have a favorites tab here so I could keep track of my most favorites. so far my favorite section on your post is Street Photography. Amazing picture I think there was only one on that one. I hope you do more.

    • Thanks for stopping by here. Your photos are awesome and I’m really thinking about trying the fork, knife, spoon challenge. I would like to take a photography class and might when I’m back in the states because I’m trying to get on a photo travel journey when i’m in Nepal.. I just think to justify it I should have a little more knowledge and experience.

    • I seem to be a blog addict now.. I would love to stop but every day I find one more enthralling one and decide to follow it.. ha.. and yours was today.. I may have to quit my day job. .. joking.. thanks for stopping by.

  10. Hi Sam….I love it!!! Just Sam…At the beginning, I thought you were a man…Only because you sounded so free to me…
Now I know you are a woman.,……Well….I will follow you.,..Yopu must be a real character!!!

  11. Thanks for the like! I’ve looked around a bit and I’ll be back for more…I hear you on how reading blogs take up more time than writing a post. It can get addicting…Take care!

    Warmest regards from the Philippines,
    Mary

  12. Thanks for stopping by and following… have been very busy of late and only popping into the blogosphere sporadically but will hopefully be catching up with some of your posts along the way! 🙂

  13. Hey there Newbie Spikey!
(for your info, a Spikey is the term for folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

Blogging since June 2013, my aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations, opinions and lighter-hearted stuff thrown in for good measure.

I normally keep to a couple of posts a day, maybe 3-4 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…
