Jakes Printers Sunday post theme this week is Close-ups. It’s a great theme because you can take the idea and move it in so many different directions. I’m choosing to take the theme very literally because only recently I have begun playing with macro and micro shots on my click and shoot. (Yes, I only have a click and shoot – don’t judge.)

It’s one of the most rewarding and frustrating types of photography because for me it is difficult to try to capture such tiny parts of such big scenes. It takes a lot of patience and the ability to really slow down and be fully aware of what you are trying to present.

Sometimes it takes only looking around you and seeing something in a completely new way. The floor, a cup, a flower, the edge of a desk or a person and taking that new vision and freezing it in place and time in the most inspiring way you can. Here are my attempts at close-ups.

Photography is the art of observation. It is about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. I have found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.
