Annu Miarabilis

Happy New Year!!!

Annu Miarabilis (n.) (phr.) – Origin: Latin – Definition: A remarkable or notable year in history; a year of wonders and miracles, used to speak hopefully of the future.

happy new year

The year 2020 has brought us so much negativity and bad news. The world news corps sharing their 24/7 pandemic of fear. COVID-19, an actual pandemic, has caused millions of people to lose their lives or at minimum, their way of life.  Fire, politics, racism, riots, masks, online education, all followed by memes to mock it all.

Based on the above negative aspects of last year, I have decided on a new personal writing/photo challenge for 2021. Words – happy words, weird words, words relating to travel, words that sound funny, words that represent my identity, words that I have never heard of before, words that might very well be made up.

So here is a toast to 2021 with the hope that it will take off in leaps and bounds, turning into an annus mirabilis.  With love and memories to all past travels, smiles, hugs, and kisses and hoping all of these things can resume!!!!

Taking it to the Streets – Again – For fun

A long, long, long vacation. Tons of fun from fairs to beaches and from city to city.  Summertime fun with family and friends.  Just a smattering of it all from New York to New Jersey.  I hope you enjoy.  I know I did!!

I always have fun in The City, but I especially and specifically have fun with the street art.

WPC: Unusual POV or My FoR

Weekly Photo Challenge: An Unusual POV from The Daily Post

I like odd angles and I definitely have an unusual point of view on most things.  I like eccentric and odd things when it comes to people, places and things.  Sometimes this attribute helps me adapt to new situations and sometimes it causes me to run away from certain “normal” things.  I’m pretty sure this will be my last post in the U.S. so it was a perfect theme for saying good-bye to the area.  The following are photos from Philly, DC and Maryland.  Some of the photos I really enjoyed more because after I took them I struggled with whether they were real or not.  Some of them looked so unreal that I actually increased the distortion with a quick and subtle edit.  I hope you enjoy.

So many I liked, Check them out

A compilation of themes I missed

After leaving Venezuela I had over 7 weeks to pass with no computer and limited down-time.  I did stay on top of some of my favorite themes from some of my favorite blogs and feel it might just be easier to put together one blog highlighting some of my favorite pictures from some of the favorite parts of my journey.  I wonder if I can use the word favorite just ONE MORE TIME.

As usual, Ailsa from Where’s my Backpack brought some great photo themes out which received some inspiring responses.  At the end of this blog I will try to find some of the ones I liked the most and highlight them.
